Text message consent

How Alianza por la Salud obtains and records consent before sending text messages. It shows what the consumer sees, in the original Spanish, followed by a faithful English translation.

About this page

The guidance request form is published in Spanish at medicare.alianzaporlasalud.com, because the people we serve are in Puerto Rico. There is no English version of the form. This page exists so that carriers and other reviewers who do not read Spanish can verify how consent to receive text messages is obtained.

Consent is not collected on this page. The texts quoted below are the ones the consumer sees, taken from the same source the form uses, each followed by a faithful English translation.

Where consent is collected

On step 4 of 5 of the guidance request form at medicare.alianzaporlasalud.com. By then the person has entered their contact details and answered brief questions about their Medicare coverage.

Two separate checkboxes

Checking one box does not check the other, and neither box is ever pre-checked.

  • Phone call. Required to submit the request. It authorizes a representative of Alianza to call the person at the number provided. It does not authorize text messages.
  • Text messages. Separate, optional and unchecked by default, with its own disclosure shown directly above it. Leaving it unchecked does not prevent the person from submitting the request or from receiving guidance.
Step 4 of 5 of the Spanish guidance request form. It shows the phone call consent text and its checkbox, and below it the separate text message consent text and its checkbox. Both checkboxes are unchecked.
The form as the consumer sees it, captured on September 10, 2026. Both checkboxes start unchecked.

The text message disclosure, as shown on the form

Spanish original, exactly as displayed to the consumer. It is an approved text, version v1-provisional.

Text shown directly above the checkbox
Checkbox label
También autorizo recibir mensajes de texto. Es opcional.

English translation

Text shown directly above the checkbox
I authorize Alianza por la Salud, Inc. to send me text messages at the number I provided, related to my request for guidance. I understand that message frequency varies, that message and data rates from my phone company may apply, that I may reply STOP at any time to stop receiving them and HELP to request assistance. I understand that this authorization is voluntary and is not required in order to receive guidance.
Checkbox label
I also authorize receiving text messages. It is optional.

What we record when the box is checked

  • The exact text the person was shown, and its version.
  • A SHA-256 hash of that text, so it can later be shown that it was not altered.
  • The date and time, in UTC and in Puerto Rico time.
  • The phone number that was authorized.
  • Which checkboxes were checked and which were not.
  • The internet (IP) address and the browser the form was submitted from.

Verbal consent during the guidance call

If the person did not check the box, the agent may ask for authorization during the guidance call by reading an approved script word for word. The answer is recorded in the person's file with the same text and hash. Both a yes and a no are recorded.

Script, Spanish original (approved text, version v1-provisional)
English translation
Do you authorize me to send you text messages at the number I am calling you on, to follow up on this guidance? They would be messages related to your request. It is voluntary, it is not required in order for us to guide you, you may reply STOP at any time to stop receiving them, and message and data rates from your phone company may apply.

What we never do

  • Pre-check either checkbox.
  • Make text messages a condition for receiving guidance.
  • Send a confirmation text or ask for a YES reply at sign-up.
  • Send promotional messages. Messages follow up on the person's own request: a thank-you after the guidance call, appointment reminders, confirmation of pending items, and replies to people who write to us.
  • Share phone numbers with third parties for their marketing.

Frequency, costs, opting out and help

  • Message frequency varies and depends on each person's case.
  • Message and data rates from the person's phone company may apply.
  • Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. Spanish equivalents such as PARE or BAJA also work. The opt-out is recorded immediately and applies to every message from this system.
  • Reply HELP for help. AYUDA also works.
  • Messages are sent in Spanish.
